Connect Cursor

Connect Harmonize MCP to Cursor. Requires Cursor 1.0 or later.

Before you start: every user must first join their Harmonize organization. See MCP Setup Guide. Cursor calls Harmonize from your machine, so allow outbound HTTPS to mcp.optimizedpayments.com.

Add Harmonize MCP to Cursor

Admin only

  1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json and add this entry:

    JSON
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "harmonize": {
          "url": "https://mcp.optimizedpayments.com/mcp",
          "auth": {
            "CLIENT_ID": "replace_with_the_oauth_client_id_in_connection_guide"
          },
          "headers": {}
        }
      }
    }

  2. Open Settings › Tools & MCP and turn on harmonize.

  3. When the browser opens, sign in with your approved work account.

Start asking

Every user

  1. In Settings › Tools & MCP, confirm harmonize is on and signed in.

  2. Start a new chat in Cursor.

  3. Ask a payments question in plain language. Cursor calls Harmonize MCP and shows the governed result.

Test it: ask "How did Visa authorization approval rates trend last quarter?" More examples in MCP Example Questions and Troubleshooting.

Reconnect (returning users)

Connected before the organization sign-in update? Reconnect once.

  1. In Settings › Tools & MCP, sign out of harmonize or turn it off.

  2. Turn harmonize back on. Your ~/.cursor/mcp.json entry stays the same.

  3. On the organization page, enter your organization name.

  4. Enter your user ID and password.
