PayFac Sub-Merchant Dashboard

PayFac Sub-Merchant Dashboard gives payment facilitators a submerchant-level view of transaction volume, interchange qualification, fees, and sales mix, broken out by acquirer, MID, and card brand.

The dashboard has three parts: a KPI section organized into five tabs, a Chart section for visual trend analysis, and a Data section for exporting the underlying numbers.

This dashboard displays settled data by default. Use the Funding Method filter to access conveyed data.

Across all five KPI tabs, each metric appears in two rows: Location Specific, which respects all dashboard filters including any MID filter in place, and Totals, which is unaffected by MID filters and always reflects the full submerchant portfolio.

KPI Section

The top of the dashboard is organized into five tabs, each with its own set of KPI cards:

  • Transactions: Transactions, Net Sales, Average Sale, Effective Cost Per Unit, Refund Rate

  • Interchange: Downgrade Rate, Token Penetration, L2 Penetration, L3 Penetration, Potential Savings

  • Fees: Total Fees, Interchange Fees, Network Fees, Acquirer Fees

  • Effective Rate: Effective Rate, Effective IC Rate, Effective Network Rate, Effective Acquirer Rate

  • Sales Rate: % Debit Sales, % Consumer Credit Sales, % Commercial Sales, % AmEx Sales, % International Sales

Chart Section

Below the KPI tabs, the Chart section holds the dashboard's visual trend analysis.

Net Sales by MOP Name

  • Y-Axis: Net Sales ($)

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Segments: One per card brand or method of payment (for example Chase Credit, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Pulse)

Group defaults to Card : MOP Name, Top N defaults to 10, Date Granularity defaults to Monthly.

L2 & L3 Penetration by Month

  • Y-Axis: Penetration (%)

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Layers: L2 Penetration and L3 Penetration

Shows the share of eligible commercial volume that actually achieved Level 2 or Level 3 processing each month.

Token Penetration %

  • Y-Axis: Token Penetration (%)

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Line: Token Penetration

Tracks the share of token-eligible sales actually processed as tokenized transactions. Check it when the Downgrade Rate KPI moves, since tokenization coverage is one of the levers behind interchange qualification.

Total Fees by Acquirer

  • Y-Axis (bars): Total Fees ($)

  • Y-Axis (line): Effective Rate (%)

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Segments: Total Fees stacked by Acquirer, with Effective Rate shown as a single overlay line

Group defaults to MID : Acquirer, Top N defaults to 10, Date Granularity defaults to Monthly.

Effective Rate by Acquirer

  • Y-Axis: Effective Rate (%)

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Lines: One per Acquirer

Group defaults to MID : Acquirer, Top N defaults to 10, Date Granularity defaults to Monthly.

Cost Drivers by Acquirer

  • Y-Axis: Average Sale ($) / % Debit Sales / % Consumer Credit Sales

  • X-Axis: Month

  • Measure: Multi-select, defaulting to Average Sale, % Debit Sales, and % Consumer Credit Sales

Group defaults to MID : Acquirer, Top N defaults to 10, Date Granularity defaults to Monthly. Useful for separating whether a change in Effective Rate is coming from ticket size or from a shift in card mix.

Downgrade Rate and Potential Savings are also calculated on this dashboard, using the same Downgrade Type logic as the Interchange Savings Dashboard.

Data Section

The Data section is a fully configurable table rather than a chart, built for benchmarking rather than trend-spotting. It lets you select a Measure (from the full metric library, each available in a standard and a Location Specific version), then drill through up to three grouping levels — for example MID : MOP Pinless, then MID : MCC, then MID : DBA Name.

Use this section when you need to compare specific submerchants, MCCs, or acquirers side by side against each other or against portfolio totals — export the granular numbers behind the KPIs and charts above rather than reading them off a single line or bar.

Filtering Tips

  • Date Range for Charts and Data: defaults to the last 6 months including the current month, and applies across both the Chart and Data sections

  • Funding Method: the dashboard defaults to settled data only — open Filters and adjust Funding Method to include conveyed transactions

  • Group and Top N: most chart panels default to Card : MOP Name or MID : Acquirer, with Top N defaulting to 10; adjust either to re-slice a chart without leaving the section

  • Date Granularity: defaults to Monthly on every chart, switchable to Yearly, Quarterly, Weekly, or Daily

Use Case Example

"We want to see how one submerchant is performing against the rest of our portfolio."

  • Open Filters and set the MID filter to the submerchant you want to benchmark

  • On any KPI tab, compare that submerchant's Location Specific row against the Totals row — a gap between the two shows where it over- or under-indexes versus the portfolio, for example a higher Effective Rate or lower L2/L3 Penetration

  • Switch to the Data section and group by MID : MCC or MID : DBA Name to see how that submerchant compares to others in the same category or acquirer

  • Clear the MID filter to return to full-portfolio Totals once you're done benchmarking
