Dispute Research Dashboard

The Dispute Research Dashboard is a case-level view of chargebacks, letting you track each case from the initial dispute through the multi-stage lifecycle, alongside refund activity and win/loss outcomes by category and MOP.

Default view excludes Pay by Bank, ACH, Electronic Check, and Rapid Dispute Resolution data. Use Filters or a saved view to access them.

Win Rate by MOP Name

A line chart tracking dispute win rate over time, broken out by method of payment.

  • Date Range for Charts and Data: defaults to Last 6 months including this month

  • Measure: Count

  • Group: Card : MOP Name

  • Top N: 10

  • Date Granularity: Monthly

Use this chart to compare win rate trends across card brands (AmEx, Chase Credit, Chase Signature Debit, Discover, Mastercard, Visa) and spot which MOPs are winning or losing disputes at a disproportionate rate.

Disputed Count by Category

A stacked bar chart showing dispute volume trended monthly and broken out by category (Fraud, Consumer Disputes, Processing Errors, Authorization, Inquiry/Miscellaneous, Other).

  • Type: Disputed

  • Measure: Count

  • Group: Disputes : Category

  • Top N: 10

  • Date Granularity: Monthly

Below the chart, the Case & Lifecycle Detail Table lists the underlying records, so you can move directly from a spike in the chart to the specific cases behind it.

Case & Lifecycle Detail Table

There is a single row-level table on this dashboard, and it carries both the case identification columns and the lifecycle columns — 22 columns in all — so one row follows a dispute from filing through to resolution. The most frequently used columns are described below; the rest follow the same two groupings.

The case identification columns include Case ID, Merchant Order Number, ARN, MID, MOP Name, Company Name, DBA Name, Reason Code, Card Number, and Card Issuer. Use these to tie a case back to the original transaction and to the merchant account it belongs to — the ARN and Merchant Order Number are what you hand to an acquirer or your order system when researching an individual case.

The lifecycle and outcome columns track what happened to the case:

  • Dispute Date – date the chargeback was filed

  • Settled dispute amount – dispute amount in settled currency (this is the only column on the table that is not title case)

  • Refund Date – date a refund was issued, if any

  • Reporting Refund Amount / Settled Refund Amount – refund amount in reporting and settled currency

  • Refund Status – Y/N flag showing whether the chargeback has been refunded

  • Stage 2 Amount, Stage 3 Amount, Stage 4 Amount – the dollar amount carried at each subsequent lifecycle stage, populated only once a case progresses that far

  • Current Position – the case's standing as of today (for example, Loss)

  • Final Disposition – how the case ultimately resolved (for example, Pending, Loss)

  • Final Position – the final dollar amount at resolution

Cross-reference Refund Status with Final Disposition to catch cases where a refund was issued but the dispute is still open or unresolved.

Filtering Tips

  • Lifecycle tab: filter to a specific Stage Action/Category to audit cases stuck at that stage, or to a Final Disposition to review closed outcomes only

  • Refund Status: filter to refunded cases to check they're also reflected correctly in Current Position/Final Disposition

  • Date Range for Charts and Data: narrow the window to isolate a specific spike in the Disputed Count by Category chart

  • Default exclusions: remember Pay by Bank, ACH, Electronic Check, and Rapid Dispute Resolution cases are excluded by default — open Filters if you need the full picture

Use Case Example

"We want to know if a specific MOP is losing more disputes than it should, and whether refunds are being handled correctly for those cases."

  • Review Win Rate by MOP Name to spot which MOP has the lowest or most declining win rate

  • Check Disputed Count by Category to see whether that MOP's disputes are concentrated in a particular category, like Fraud or Consumer Disputes

  • Use the Lifecycle filter tab to see how far those cases are progressing (Stage 2/3/4) before reaching a Final Disposition

  • Cross-check the Case & Lifecycle Detail Table with the Refund Status filter to confirm refunds were issued where expected
